Be Active Sports & Clubs is a specialist sports coaching company working in partnership with primary schools to deliver high-quality Physical Education across all aspects of the national curriculum. We also provide a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including extra-curricular clubs and targeted programmes that support whole-school development.
Our mission is to inspire, engage, and educate children to lead active, healthy lifestyles through the positive power of Physical Education and sport. We believe that high-quality PE plays a vital role not only in physical development, but also in confidence, wellbeing, and lifelong participation in physical activity.
We are proud to raise the profile of Physical Education and school sport by delivering outstanding provision through our enrichment programmes, led by a team of enthusiastic, hardworking, and professional coaches. In addition to curriculum PE, we offer a variety of extra-curricular clubs, including breakfast, lunchtime, and after-school sessions, ensuring every child has the opportunity to be active and succeed.

James is a highly experienced PE Specialist having delivered PE & Sport to young children within primary schools for a number of years. After completing his Sports Science degree at Brunel University back in 2015, James has worked closely delivering high quality PE lessons, utilising the sports premium budget and providing extensive extra curricular clubs to our partner schools. James has worked extremely hard to ensure PE and Sport continues to have a positive impact on young children lives.
Lewis is a highly experienced SEN specialist delivering Physical Education to a diverse range of primary schools for a number of years. After completing a BTEC sports science course alongside his football scholarship Lewis’s coaching versatility has allowed him to work closely with SEN pupils to develop and build greater self-esteem within sport. Lewis has continued to lead our CPD courses to primary school teaching staff to allow them to confidently deliver high quality Physical Education. Lewis is dedicated to ensure PE and sport continues to have a positive impact on young children’s lives.

Daniel Clifton is a highly experienced PE Specialist, delivering high-quality PE and sport to young children in primary schools for over five years. An integral part of the Be Active team, Daniel is passionate about using sport to create fun, engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage children to stay active and enjoy learning. In addition to his school-based role, Daniel leads our CPD provision across partner schools, recording short 10-minute PE lesson snippets to support staff development and share best practice. This ensures consistently high-quality PE is delivered across all our partner schools.

Mitchell Cumber is a PE Specialist delivering high-quality PE lessons at Elmgrove Primary School. He is extremely passionate about ensuring that primary-aged children of all abilities enjoy PE & Sport. Mitchell leads our holiday camp provision, a vital role in the success of our camps, ensuring we consistently deliver engaging, inclusive and fun holiday experiences all year round. This includes overseeing our HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme, providing high-quality, enriching opportunities that support children’s wellbeing, physical activity and enjoyment during the school holidays.

James is an enthusiastic PE teacher with over six years of experience working with young children. He has been instrumental in helping children develop their physical skills while growing socially and emotionally. James works at our partner school, Ruislip Gardens four days a week, raising the profile of PE and Sport, and also teaches at Elmgrove Primary School one day a week. Always going above and beyond, he creates engaging, inclusive lessons that inspire children to enjoy being active and reach their full potential.

Charlie Rowan is a dedicated PE Specialist, delivering high-quality PE and Sport at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School five days a week. He is responsible for selecting teams for upcoming competitions and overseeing lunchtime provision, including identifying and supporting sports leaders. Charlie creates engaging, inclusive lessons that inspire children of all abilities to stay active, develop their skills, and enjoy their sporting journey.

Will Wicks is a skilled PE Specialist, working across two partner schools, St John’s and Cranford Park Academy throughout the week. At Cranford Park Academy, Will leads the SEN PE provision, where his expertise has contributed to significant improvements in the quality and inclusivity of lessons. He is passionate about creating engaging, accessible PE experiences that allow all children to develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of sport
William Wicks

Ross McGarvie is a committed PE Specialist, working at Roxbourne Primary School five days a week. He has played a key role in developing PE and Sport across the school, creating engaging opportunities for all children to stay active and enjoy their lessons. Ross delivers CPD sessions for SMSAs, ensuring that lunchtime provision is well-organised and offers a wide range of activities for children to participate in. He is also responsible for leading the Be Active competitions we offer across Harrow, giving children exciting opportunities to showcase their skills and enjoy friendly competition.

Jack Caffary is a very experienced PE Specialist with strong links to EYFS, ensuring that young children develop their physical skills from the earliest stages. He recently joined Elmgrove Primary School, working four days a week, and is responsible for training children for upcoming competitions and attending school competitions. Jack is committed to creating fun, engaging, and inclusive lessons that inspire children to enjoy being active and build a strong foundation in PE.

Louis Franklin is a dedicated PE Specialist, working at Belmont School to deliver high-quality PE and Sport. He also runs the breakfast and after-school club provision daily, ensuring children have a safe, engaging, and active start and end to their school day. Louis is committed to creating inclusive lessons that help children of all abilities develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of being active, while raising the profile of PE and Sport across the school.

Shay James is a skilled PE Specialist who works across 3–4 partner schools, providing cover when staff attend competitions. With a particular specialism in football, Shay delivers engaging, high-quality lessons that help children develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of sport. He plays a key role in supporting partner schools to maintain consistent PE provision and ensures children continue to have fun, inclusive, and active experiences across all lessons.

Owen McCarthy is a dedicated PE Specialist, working full-time at Cranford Park Academy. He also leads the breakfast and after-school club provision, providing children with engaging activities ranging from physical education to reading, maths, arts and crafts, and much more. Owen is committed to creating fun, inclusive experiences that help children develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of learning, both in and outside of PE.

Azeem Mohammad currently works full-time at Belmont School, working closely with CPD lead Daniel Clifton. Azeem is gradually taking on responsibility for leading PE lessons, with Daniel providing vital daily feedback as he delivers different aspects of each session. Over time, Azeem will progress to delivering his own lessons independently across partner schools, continuing to develop his skills and confidence as a PE Specialist.

Maddie Kirkby is responsible for managing Be Active’s social media platforms, showcasing the work we do day-to-day in our teaching, after-school club provision, and sporting competitions. She also creates the newsletter that is sent to our partner schools, keeping them up to date with news, events, and highlights from across the programme. Maddie plays a key role in promoting Be Active’s activities and celebrating the achievements of the children we work with.

Tommy McKenzie works at Cranford Park Academy and is at the start of his journey with Be Active. He is working alongside various members of staff to develop his own teaching style. Tommy currently delivers his own after-school clubs and is following the CPD pathway, with the goal of delivering independent PE lessons by the end of this academic year. He is committed to creating engaging, inclusive sessions that inspire children to enjoy being active and develop their skills.
